Venue Tour – Max at High Falls

Venue Tour – Max at High Falls

Wow! It’s been an amazing last few weeks touring all of these venues… but our search is at an end! I’m so nervous to even write about it (what if something falls through?!), but here goes anyway! Please note that nothing is set in stone… but we have really fallen in love with this place. Today Dave and I toured Max at High Falls. The venue is right next to High Falls (with a whole set of windows that looks out over it), right near/in downtown. We already live in the same general area, and know the feel is very much “us”, so we were already excited to take a look at the space. We’ve both seen the outside of the building throughout the years, but it’s been the home to a few different businesses, including several night...

Venue Tour – Belhurst Castle

Venue Tour – Belhurst Castle

Last stop of the day was Belhurst Castle, on Seneca Lake. We’ve driven by here a number of times on our way to Watkins Glen, and the sister of a friend of ours had her wedding here, and loved it. I’m going to make this post brief, because I know it’s just not right for me. The place is beautiful, and I would love to come out and have a nice dinner here sometime – but the vibe of the interior and of the different reception halls just wasn’t me. I knew very quickly that it wasn’t the right place. But here are the pictures I took anyway!

Venue Tour – Mirbeau Inn & Spa

The second stop for the day was the Mirbeau Inn & Spa (warning, the site plays music – yuck). I originally found out about this place by doing a random Google search for “rochester, ny wedding venues”. After seeing some pictures, I knew I had to go check it out. It’s definitely the furthest location we’ve considered (it’s in Skaneateles), but Dave really wanted me to look at it, just in case I had “that feeling” with it. We both had a very good feeling that it was going to be priced too high for our budget, but it can’t hurt to check it out! When I pick my venue, I want to know that I’ve seen a range of other options, and that I’m making a decision based on as much information as I could have...

Venue Tour – Esperanza Mansion

Venue Tour – Esperanza Mansion

Dave and I were supposed to visit three venues this past Saturday together, but some unfortunate work issues cropped up that kept him at home. It’s been a little hard to schedule these three venues (they are all out in the Finger Lakes area), that I didn’t want to go through the hassle of rescheduling, and instead went myself. The first stop was Esperanza Mansion, which is on the west branch of Keuka Lake. It was a beautiful sunny day (could have been warmer!) and the drive was a heck of a lot of fun! When I arrived, I couldn’t believe the view – it’s a straight shot right out to the lake, and these pictures just don’t do the place justice. I was so struck by how amazing it all looked, that I stopped midway up the driveway to...

Venue Tour – Max of Eastman Place

Venue Tour – Max of Eastman Place

About a week ago, Dave and I stopped by the Temple Bar and Grill to hang out and eat wings with some of our friends. As we were leaving, Dave mentioned something about Max of Eastman Place, and he said maybe we should look into it as a reception location. We were parked within a block of it, and since I had never even seen the place, we walked over to take a look. The building was closed, but we peeked in some of the windows, and I liked what I saw initially. Dave also said he had had their food before and was blown away by it, so it would be a place he would trust to make our food exceptional. It took me two appointments (thanks to a nasty cold I had), but I finally met with Ashley, the event coordinator. She was prepared to tell me about all three of the Max...
