Venue Tour – Max of Eastman Place

Venue Tour – Max of Eastman Place

About a week ago, Dave and I stopped by the Temple Bar and Grill to hang out and eat wings with some of our friends. As we were leaving, Dave mentioned something about Max of Eastman Place, and he said maybe we should look into it as a reception location. We were parked within a block of it, and since I had never even seen the place, we walked over to take a look. The building was closed, but we peeked in some of the windows, and I liked what I saw initially. Dave also said he had had their food before and was blown away by it, so it would be a place he would trust to make our food exceptional.

It took me two appointments (thanks to a nasty cold I had), but I finally met with Ashley, the event coordinator. She was prepared to tell me about all three of the Max locations (Max of Eastman Place, Max at the Gallery, and Max at High Falls). But most of this post is going to be about Eastman Place.

I had a few minutes before Ashley was ready to meet with me (I was there about 20 minutes early!), so I had some time to just stop and imagine our reception being held there (and I grabbed these pictures).

Through the lower arch on this wall leads to a separate bar area. The ceilings are very high, and the room is very airy.

I tried to back into the corner to get a view of the whole room, but it was impossible.

Ashely also emailed me these two images of the place done up for other events.

An overhead shot that gives a great feeling of the size of the space.

Overall, I got a very positive vibe from the place. On a Sunday (which is what we are trying to plan for), the whole building would be closed off for us, which is another plus. Their pricing is very competitive, and Dave is already pretty much sold on the food front (which is important to him!) It really felt like they would be planning an event around US and the FOOD. I’m good with that!

On the downsides, the space can only fit 120 for a served dinner. We are inviting a MAXIMUM of 120 people (at this point), so although they could fit us, we’d have to move tables before the dancefloor could be set up. It wouldn’t be the end of the world, but I hate ushering people out of their spots so we can get rid of the tables. I had that happen to me at a previous wedding I attended, and it felt weird to be displaced into not having an area where I could leave my purse, my sweater, my glass of water, etc. Also, this is a reception only location.

HOWEVER! I am scheduling with Ashley to get a tour of Max at High Falls, which is ceremony AND reception (and from the pictures I’ve seen so far, might be perfect for us….) Stay tuned!
