Wedding Registry

Wedding Registry

David and I have lived together for a while, and we have a fairly established home life. We might not have a lot of stuff (like furniture), but we do have all of the items in life that we “need”. When thinking about our registry, we knew we were going to have to shift the way we think in order to come up with items that we wanted to put on our list. Over the last few months, we’ve really tried to think of items that we might not need, but that we would really truly love to have. Neither of us are huge on asking people for things – it makes us both a little awkward. So we wanted to make sure every single item on our wedding registry was something we truly wanted. We didn’t want to add items “just because”, especially not...

Hotel Accomodations

Hotel Accomodations

We have to send a huge THANK YOU out to Mary Alice, the mother of the groom, for all of the work she has put in towards helping us arrange group rates at some of the local hotels. Between her and David, I had to do very little of the legwork! We have group rates arranged at two locations, which are actually located across the street from one another. The Accomodations

The Accomodations

So this part of the wedding planning has proven to be a bit of a stress maker for me. From the several weddings I’ve been to, it has been standard practice to offer hotel recommendations for those who are coming in out of town. There are typically three options, in a range of prices, to accommodate as many budgets as possible. Seemed like a pretty straight forward task. Then I found out that typically the bride and groom speak with those hotels to set aside blocks of rooms and negotiate discounts for their guests, instead of just making recommendations to their guests. So I start searching around about how one goes about doing this. Do you just call up a hotel and say you are having a wedding, and wham bam they are able to set up the rest? Or is this a drawn...

It’s the Little Things

It’s the Little Things

In my last post, I wanted to tell everyone what a great deal I got on my shoes. Besides the fact that I love getting a good deal, I also did it because it’s justification for my latest purchase. While browsing other peoples wedding photo galleries online, I saw quite a few of them had purchased (or been given) a special hanger to hang their wedding dress from. It makes for great photos, and is just a unique little item that (I think) will help make the day feel that much more personalized. So in the same eBay “shopping trip” that I found my shoes, I found a seller who was making personalized hangers, for a fraction of the cost that I had seen elsewhere (read: I got it for $15.00, free shipping). I got to choose what it would say, and I went with...

A Drawing of Us

A Drawing of Us

So just after our engagement, a Twitter friend of mine sent out a message about an artist friend of his (Jordan Neeves) that was offering to do drawings on request. Since David and I don’t particularly like the way we come out in pictures, I thought this would be an adorable gift to give to Dave, and maybe incorporate into our Save the Date. It’s definitely going to go up on this site somewhere as soon as I have some time to find a home for it. In the meantime, here it...
